We drove all the way to the "Friendship Bridge" this afternoon - which you all proudly paid $42 million Aus for, in 1984. It was opened by Keating. It is a bridge that goes across the Mekong River from Vientiane to Thailand. We could only walk halfway across before a barrier supposedly said "Stop or you will be shot"...at least that's what Chris told me it said (in Laotian). As far as bridges goes, I am sure it was very nice and well constructed - by Holland Constructions.

Keatings first international errection.
